How To Use Your Calendar

Article Summary: How to use the calendar feature, manage availability, editing default view, how-to drag and drop appointments, manage client appointment reminders, and how to sync your Google calendar.

Benefits

  • You can manage your StyleSeat calendar in the app and on StyleSeat's website.

  • Manage your schedule and availability, set your time off, and set your clients' reminder preferences.

  • Sync your Google calendar to bring your personal appointments into your StyleSeat calendar.

  • Drag and drop your appointments to different dates and times on your StyleSeat calendar.

How To Select Your Calendar View

To change the view you're looking at, tap the view switcher (the columns icon) in the top bar. In the Calendar view sheet, choose Day, 3 days, or Week — your calendar switches right away. This change lasts for the rest of your session.

The sheet also shows your default view; tap Change to set the view your calendar always opens in (see "Set Your Default Calendar View" below).

The three views:

Week: a top-level view of your appointments throughout the week.

3 days: a closer look at the day and a couple of days ahead.

Day: the most detail about each appointment.

You can also jump a few weeks ahead or select a day to quickly view past or future appointments, or use the arrows at the top to move between months. On a browser, click Today to return to today's appointments. In the app, tap the Calendar at the bottom of the page to return to where you started.

Managing Your Availability

Your calendar's hours, time off, and booking rules all live in Calendar settings.

From your Calendar, tap the gear icon in the top right to open Calendar settings. At the top you'll see Your calendar view, then When clients can book (Working hours, Time off, Online booking), and Google Calendar at the bottom.

Working hours

Set the hours clients can book you each week under When clients can book → Working hours.

Time off

Adjust Upcoming Hours and Manage Vacation Time are now one place: Time off. Use it for any change to specific dates.

To add time off:

  1. Open Calendar settings → Time off.

  2. Tap Add time off.

  3. Choose what's changing: Different hours (you're open, but different hours that day), Closed all day, or Vacation.

  4. Pick the date (or a date range for a vacation), set the details, and add a note if you want.

  5. Tap Save.

Make it repeat: turn on a repeat — every week, every 2 weeks, or every 4 weeks — choose the days, and set an end date. StyleSeat blocks those dates each time they come around.

Edit or remove time off: tap any entry in your Time off list to change it or delete it.

Open a day you're normally closed: Open Calendar settings → Time off and pick the date. StyleSeat sees that you're closed that day and gives you the option to Open this day. Enter your Open from and Closed until times, then tap Save. This only changes that date. Your weekly working hours stay the same.

Limit How Far in Advance Clients Can Book Your Services

By default, clients can book any available time in the future. To limit how far ahead they can book:

  1. From your Calendar, tap the gear icon → Calendar settings.

  2. Under When clients can book, tap Online booking.

  3. Find how far ahead clients can book and choose 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year.

  4. Tap Save.

Online booking also holds your online-booking and multi-service toggles, your start-time interval, and your booking notice.

This feature is exclusive to the Premium Plan. Upgrade today for greater control of your calendar.

How to Sync Your Google Calendar

You can sync your Google Calendar into your StyleSeat calendar. NOTE: This is a one-way sync.

From your Calendar, tap the gear icon → Calendar settings, then tap Google Calendar (near the bottom) to connect or manage your sync.

How To Set Client Appointment Reminder Preferences

We use text messages for appointment reminders, to let clients know we'll be charging their card, and to give clients the chance to leave a review.

To edit your client's reminder preferences, tap the appointment on your calendar, select More, then use the Reminder Preference dropdown.

Set Your Default Calendar View & Drag and Drop

Your default view is the view your calendar opens in every time you open StyleSeat. (A quick switch from the view icon only lasts your current session — the default is what sticks.)

  1. From your Calendar, tap the gear icon → Calendar settings.

  2. At the top, under Your calendar view, tap Default view.

  3. Choose Day, 3 days, or Week. That's the view StyleSeat will open to from now on.

  4. In the same card, turn Drag and drop on or off.

  5. Tap Save.

Shortcut: you can also open this from the Calendar view sheet — tap Change next to "Default view."
