Who qualifies for Deposits Beta?

Deposits Beta will only be available to Premium Pros who already have Payments enabled within StyleSeat. If you would like to participate in the Beta but currently do not qualify, consider upgrading to Premium and enabling Payments before completing sign-up.


Why should I participate in the Deposits Beta?

We know that StyleSeat Deposits will be a game-changer for our Pros, which is why we want to make sure that we listen to the needs of our Pro Community. We want your expert opinion on how StyleSeat Deposits fits into your business, and your vision for how we can make it even better in the future!


What’s included in the Deposits Beta?

Our beta will have limited functionality as we test Deposits at scale with our Pros. The beta will support a fixed deposit option for all clients across all services, and we recommend that Pros assess their business before deciding if the Deposits Beta is right for them. If your business needs more customization for Deposits, including deposit rate adjustments and automated refunds, we recommend waiting until the feature  is live for all Premium Pros.


What are my responsibilities as a Beta Pro?

We want Pros like you to test StyleSeat Deposits in your everyday business, and share your thoughts on how it fits into your booking process. We’ll also ask for your feedback as you try out the feature, in surveys and interviews with the StyleSeat team.


If I join Deposits Beta, what will my clients see?

Premium Pros in the Deposits Beta will have the deposit requirement display on the booking form once a client selects a service and appointment time. Clients must pay for the deposit at checkout before the booking will be confirmed. Deposits will apply to both new and existing clients who book on StyleSeat, as well as clients delivered via New Client Connection.


What happens after I sign up for the Deposits Beta program?

Thanks for your interest. We will evaluate our participants and inform you on the next steps if you are selected within a few weeks. Stay tuned!

Deposits Policy

A Deposit is required to reserve an appointment with a Professional. Deposits are paid by the client at time of booking, and go toward the total appointment cost. A client must enter a credit/debit card at the time of booking to confirm the appointment and pay the Deposit. Deposits are not refundable.

How It Works

Booking An Appointment


Client Booked Appointment


During booking, a client will be prompted to pay upfront for their appointment. The upfront cost includes the deposit amount and the booking fee. 



Client’s can also view a breakdown of the total upfront cost on the booking screen under Payment Method – listed as “Total due now”.



Once the appointment is confirmed, you can view the payment confirmation for the Deposit and the remaining balance due at checkout, inside of the appointment details. 



Pro Booked Appointment


During Beta testing, Deposits are not required for Pro booked appointments. If you would like to receive a Deposit during this time, you will need to request for the client to book the appointment directly.


Waiving A Deposit


Deposits are required at the time of booking. During Beta testing, you will be unable to issue a refund directly on a Deposit. Please reach out to our Support team for further assistance - here.


If you prefer not to require a deposit for a particular client, you have the option to book the appointment yourself directly.


Adjusting Appointment Details


Before completing the checkout process, you have the option to modify the specifics of an appointment, such as the type of service and its cost. Any changes in the service total will be updated and shown at checkout, potentially changing the overall amount the client owes.


This will not require the client to pay an additional deposit.


Rescheduling An Appointment


Both you and your client have the flexibility to reschedule an appointment prior to the service date. Any booking fees and deposits will be automatically applied to the newly scheduled appointment.


NOTE: Appointment details cannot be altered when a client reschedules an appointment with a Deposit.

  3. Select Deposits



How to Adjust the Deposit Amount


By enabling the Deposits Beta, we will place a deposit requirement for all services that you offer currently on StyleSeat. While we will initially set a recommended deposit for your services, you can update the deposit to be up to 50% of your total service, or a flat fee up to 50% of the service in the Settings menu. 


Your deposit amount must be above $0, and StyleSeat will lower your flat fee when it costs more than half of the service you apply it to. 




Note: The ability to set the Deposit rate to a specific dollar amount will be available soon.

Once the Deposit is paid, funds will be available for payout on your Next Scheduled payout or Instant Payout. The remaining balance for the appointment will be available for payout after checkout.


You can view your Deposit earning under the Earnings and Card Transactions tab.


Funds collected through a Deposit will be included in your Net Earnings


For a detailed breakdown of your Deposit earnings on an appointment level, go to Card Transactions. From here you will be able to see which appointment and client has paid a Deposit.


Refunds

During the Beta testing period, the capability to issue refunds directly through your account is not available. To request a refund, please directly contact our Support team - HERE

Cancellation Policy

Deposits are non-refundable. If a client cancels an appointment, they will not be eligible for a refund on the Deposit. If you would like to issue a refund to a client, please reach out directly to our Support team - HERE


No-Show/Late Cancellations


No-Show/Late Cancellation (NSLC) fees will not be collected during the beta, and the deposit will serve in lieu of that fee. If your deposit fee is lower than 50%, we cannot collect any additional fee from NSLC.


 Additional no-show fees cannot be applied.

Frequently Asked Questions | FAQ

What if I want to opt out of Beta testing after sign up?

You have the option to withdraw from the Deposits Beta whenever you wish by reaching out to our Support team via the Contact Us form. Opting out will not affect your future access to the Deposits feature once our comprehensive solution is available.


What if I want to adjust the Deposit amount?

You can update the deposit to be up to 50% of your total service, or a flat fee up to 50% of the service in the Settings menu. Your deposit amount must be above $0, and StyleSeat will lower your flat fee when it costs more than half of the service you apply it to. 


Can clients book a Klarna appointment if I have Deposits turned on?

Klarna is currently not available for appointments with deposits.


Can I use Tap to Pay to check out an appointment?

Tap to Pay on iPhone is currently not available for appointments with deposits.


Can a client pre-pay for the entire appointment?

Pre-pay/request-to-pay is currently not available for appointments with deposits.


What happens if a client books a Smart Priced appointment?

When a client books a Smart Priced appointment, they will need to pay the 50% deposit on the total appointment cost (including the price increase). The Smart Pricing fee will be deducted from your payout after checkout.


What happens if a client books a New Client Connection appointment?

When you receive a new client through our New Client Connection, they will need to pay the 50% deposit at the time of booking. The New Client Connection fee will be deducted from your payout after checkout.


How do I refund a client's deposit?

During Beta testing, your client's Deposit will serve as compensation for the no-show or late cancellation fee. Additional no-show fees cannot be applied.
