Go to Menu > Payments and & Policies > Card Reader

Setting Up Your Card Reader​

Turn on the StyleSeat card reader: Press and release the power button. The status LEDs turn on for 2 seconds and the reader beeps twice. The reader waits for Bluetooth connection for five minutes before turning off.

Charge your card reader: Connect the charging cable to the card reader and charge it for 2 hours before initial use. Use the charging cable provided.

Enable bluetooth on your phone or tablet: The status light on the left side of your card reader will turn on when it’s ready.

Note: Do not connect the card reader directly through your device’s Bluetooth settings.

Confirm your location: Confirm the address associated with your card reader to process payments

Pair the device: Select the card Reader with the serial number that corresponds to the device you are using. Locate the serial number on the back of your card reader.

Name your card reader: Assigning a name to your StyleSeat card reader can help you stay organized, especially if more and one reader is in use.

Connecting: This could take a few minutes. The LEDs will flash a few times when your card reader is connected.

How to Enable or Disable the Card Reader

You can toggle the Card Reader ON or OFF under your Card Reader Settings page

Green = Card Reader is ON and Enabled

Gray = Card Reader is OFF and Disabled


How to Check Out Using the Card Reader

  • Select either “Checkout Now” or “Checkout With Your Reader”

  • By selecting “Checkout Now” you will be directed to a second screen with a list of payment options where you will see the option to use the Card Reader​

  • By selecting Checkout With Your Reader, you will automatically initiate the checkout process using the bluetooth reader

  • From here, a tip screen will appear asking your client to confirm their desired tip amount

  • The client will then be asked if they would like a receipt. If yes, they will need to enter the email for the receipt. If not, they can click No Receipt.

  • The Card Reader will process the transaction and confirm if the payment was successful

How to Troubleshoot Card Reader Errors

Note: In most instances reader issues can be resolved by updating your app version and restarting the app.


Check the following to ensure your card reader is connected and ready to use.

Check Device

  • Card reader is ON

  • Card reader is charged

  • Card reader is in range

Verify Connection

  • Bluetooth is turned ON

  • Bluetooth permissions are set to “allow”

  • Location permissions are to “allow”

  • A passcode is setup on the device

Check App & Software

  • Check to see if an update is currently being installed

  • Ensure that reader is paired through StyleSeat and not through Apple device settings
